Many expected to walk in Martin Luther King Jr.‘s footsteps at Walk to Freedom

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s son, one of his closest advisers, and many people who walked with the civil rights leader in Detroit 50 years ago will take the same path on June 22.

The Rev. Wendell Anthony, president of the Detroit branch of the NAACP, announced on Monday the participants in the 50th commemoration of the Walk to Freedom.

Walkers will organize at 7 a.m. at Forest and Woodward Avenue and proceed at 9 a.m. down Woodward to a rally at Hart Plaza.
