“The Katrina Crisis: Rescue, Relocation, Recovery & Return…What is the Mission”
12:00pm - 4:00pm Location: Headquarters - Auditorium - Program Description: A panel of congressional leaders, state and local elected officials, public policy experts and community organizers will put a focus on the continuing Katrina Crisis: no plan for rescue or recovery when Katrina hit, and now plan for reconstruction of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast and the return of some 250,000 citizens still scattered around the nation. Leaders will discuss how to release and utilize federal funds for reconstruction and return; public housing and education strategies; and the need to protect and enforce voting rights. The “Katrina Covenant” leads the way in formulating a new urban policy for America; how to end the war in Iraq, and re-prioritize funding for education, health care, jobs and fighting poverty in America.Program Track: Political
