Koran Burning, Dangerous and Immoral

Please see below a statement from Rev. Jesse L. Jackson Sr., founder and president of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, regarding Florida Dove World Outreach Center pastor Terry Jones' planned "International Burn a Koran Day.”

"I strongly oppose Pastor Terry Jones’, of Dove World Outreach Center, planned “International Burn a Koran Day that is scheduled to take place on the ninth anniversary of September 11th. His plan, if carried out, is provocative, dangerous and immoral. It likewise invites religious war mongering.

In the bible it states, “Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.” The bible speaks to us that we should" love one another “as Christ has loved us. It also promotes the idea that love is not limited to race, creed, color, and or religious preference.

The act of Koran burning is offensive and endangers people all over the world; in particular our military service men and women as well as Americans who travel abroad.

We urge Pastor Jones to reconsider his actions and weigh the consequences. I appeal to all people of faith and Christians in particular, to resist and refrain from participating in this type of immoral and divisive behavior. Jesus calls us to peace and coexistence without alienation and discrimination.”
