Rev. Jackson, NBA to hold Press Conference on Voter Suppression

CHICAGO –Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr., Attorney Benjamin Crump, Transformative Justice Coalition, U.S. Congressman Bobby Scott (D-VA) and the president of the National Bar Association will hold a press conference 10 a.m. today at the associations 92 nd convention to discuss voter suppression at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel, 100 Front St. West, Toronto, Ontario.

“We must work diligently to make sure the countercultural revolution against affordable healthcare; easy access to voting; equity and fairness in education and a healthy climate are not successful. After more than 50 years of martyrs, marching, murders and civil rights, we will not go back. We will stand,” said Rev. Jackson.

Saying Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by nearly 3 million votes but Donald Trump won because of the antiquated and unfair Electoral College, Rev. Jackson said while it’s time to move on the rules must change to prevent another round of voter suppression of the black, brown and poor votes through redistricting and other schemes.

The NBA includes mostly black lawyers from the United States, Canada and the Caribbean. This year their annual convention is in Toronto.
