Rev Jesse Jackson, Sr Joins the Dream Defenders at the Florida State Capital

Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr. will join the Dream Defenders at the Florida State Capitol for a Rally at 12 noon today.

The Dream Defenders is comprised of a group of persistent 20-something students and professionals who are urging Gov. Rick Scott to call a special session to repeal the stand your ground law or dramatically reform it in light of the George Zimmerman acquittal. They also want to curb racial profiling and to provoke the state to repeal its zero-tolerance policy on school campuses to reduce the number of students funneled into the criminal justice system. This group has refused to leave and have vowed to stay at the Capitol until lawmakers pass the bill to do so. The Dream Defenders’ leader, Phillip Agnew quit his job at a pharmaceutical company to develop the group full-time after mobilizing a march demanding the arrest of George Zimmerman and directs the group with laser focus.

Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr. added the following comment about today’s event:

“The Dream Defenders are in the best position to stand for justice. Help them fight one day longer. There is something fundamentally wrong when you have the right to bear arms in the constitution and not the right to vote. We need the constitutional right to vote, not just the state’s right.

The dream is in Tallahassee today. They want the governor to call a special session and the rainbow stands by that”.
