Serving Veterans on Thanksgiving

REV. JESSE L.JACKSON, SR. AND RAINBOW PUSH 
COALITION EMPHASIZE BEING “THANKFUL” IN THE 
SEASON OF THANKSGIVING” WHILE SERVING VETERANS 
AT ANNUAL THANKSGIVING DINNER

The Reverend Jesse L. Jackson, Sr. and Rainbow PUSH Coalition on Thanksgiving Day 
emphasized, “It is good that we can be thankful in the season of Thanksgiving. While serving 
veterans a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with all of trimmings, Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr. 
added that because all veterans are wounded, they deserve to be honored for their courage while 
on the battlefields. Several “celebrity chefs” adorned aprons along with Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, 
Sr. and expressed their gratitude to the veterans in attendance. Serving those who “served their 
country were many civic and community leaders, namely, Chicago City Treasurer Stephanie 
anchor Corey Mc Pherrin, Rev. Dernard D. Newell, 16th
Collins, weekend WGN-TV news anchor Robert Jordan and Comedian BLT, while jazz 
singer Tracye Smith saluted them with a melodious rendition of “America the Beautiful” 
Fox 32 News Anchor Robin Robinson also expressed gratitude to the veterans and shared in 
a Thanksgiving highlight along with Rev. Jackson. Ms. Robinson told the crowd about the heart-
wrenching story that aired on Fox News explaining the plight of Ms. Anjanette Albert who was 
facing financial hardship. Anjanetta Albert, mother of slain, Fenger honor roll student 
Derrion Albert was warmly welcomed along with her daughter, Rhaea, as Rev. Jesse L. Jackson 
Sr. along with Rainbow PUSH Coalition, spearheaded the call for support by donating 
$1,000.00 to Mrs. Albert and her family. Rev. Jackson then garnered additional support for the 
Derrion Albert Fund as Ms. Albert wept with obvious gratitude in memory of her son.
