Rev. Janette Wilson, national executive director of PUSH Excel, said, “Students in the PUSH Excel STEAM and Summer Sports program enjoyed a summer of engagement in STEAM education.
“Our students learned and experienced the performing arts, African cultural presentations, meditation, conflict resolution; e-sports; aviation; acting; public speaking; Black history; coding; website design; virtual reality; audio; engineering and production; quilting; financial literacy; history of music and outdoor sports and all in a safe place,” said Rev. Wilson.
PUSH Excel students also went on several field trips including: Museum of Science and Industry, Cubs home game, Goodman Theater, Garfield Park Conservatory, Lincoln Park Zoo, and the Chicago Bears Training Camp.
“Our goal is to continue the Saturday Enrichment program after Labor Day as a way of continuing the after school learning and cultural awareness so important to exposing our children beyond their weekly classroom experience,” she stated.
In partnership with PUSH Excel, Dinalynn Biggs, president/CEO of the Biggs Radio Station, will be steaming live. She is providing free screenings, face paintings, school supplies and other giveaways. Arthur Sutton’s & Gifts of Praise will be present at this “family fun” affair.
