Dear Rev. Jesse Jackson/Operation PUSH:
On behalf of the Board of Governors for the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences' Chicago/Midwest chapter, I am happy to inform you that Rev. Jesse Jackson has been awarded the NAT AS Chicago/Midwest Chapter's Board of Governors' Citation. This honor is given in recognition of outstanding and unique achievements or accomplishments by individuals, organizations, or companies which do not fall within the structure of this chapter's regular media-related awards.
This honor is presented to Rev. Jackson as a recognition to his seven decades of public service on the international stage, while based in Chicago.
Rev. Jesse Jackson has been a political activist, minister, politician and broadcast personality based in Chicago for over 55 years. He was a candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination in 1984 and 1988; and he is the founder of the Rainbow/PUSH organization, which he launched in 1971.
His career as a public figure is marked with many accomplishments. And his career as a media personality is almost as significant.
The NATAS Chicago/Midwest chapter is pleased to present Rev. Jackson with this honor at our 64th Annual Chicago/Midwest Emmys on Saturday, Dec. 3 at the Marriott Hotel on Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago.
Until then, please accept my warmest congratulations on this honor.
Sincerely,
John Owens
Board President
National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Chicago/Midwest Chapter
