"What’s Next? Justice and the American Map

In the wake of Louisiana v. Callais, the future of fair representation and voting rights stands at a critical crossroads. This conversation is especially timely as Congressman Cleo Fields comes directly from Louisiana—where the legal battle at the center of this Supreme Court decision unfolded—and has firsthand experience in the ongoing fight for equitable representation and majority-Black districts.

Joining him is Illinois House Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch, one of the highest-ranking Black elected officials in the nation, who understands both the legislative and political implications these decisions carry for democracy, governance, and community power.

“What’s Next? Justice and the American Map” will examine how redistricting, race, and the courts are reshaping political power in America and what must happen next to protect the voice and vote of every community.
