Urgent Community Call to Action: The Dexter Reed Case and Protecting Our Vulnerable
On March 21, Dexter Reed was shot at 96 times by five undercover Chicago Police officers after they cut him off to stop him for an alleged traffic stop for a seatbelt violation. The police say he didn’t comply with their orders, and he shot first. However, not all the police activated their body cameras, and it’s unclear if they even identified themselves as police. So many questions remain. Let’s not rush to judgment before we learn all the facts. What is critical is this extreme act of police violence represents a broader crisis, where the violence against our youth comes both from law enforcement and within our communities.
Join us this Saturday at Rainbow PUSH Headquarters for "Gotham City or Golden Opportunity: Rescuing Our Children from the Violence." We need your voice in this pivotal discussion led by community leaders and activists.
